Cannonbolt's Predator: Gutcracker by TheWalrusclown Cannonbolt's Predator: Gutcracker by TheWalrusclown
hear is Cannonbolt's predator for the Ben 10 fan reboot, drawn by Fanficwriter1, colored by me. name suggested by Master-Of-Dreams

Name: Gutcracker

Species: Arburian Gigantecangrijo

Body: Crustacean

Home World: Arburia

Prey:  Arburian Pelarota (Cannonbolt's species)

Powers/Abilities: Gutcracker possesses a durable carapace that is more than capable of taking multiple blows from barreling Arburian Pelarota's and brushing them off like they're mosquito bites.

The Arburian Gigantecangrijo has evolved two sets of pincers and claws, one that is nimble and flexible for catching and holding onto the spherical shell of their prey while the second, bulky and stronger set quickly crushes its prey's armor like a nutcracker. It then feeds on the meat inside with its small set of claws, picking bits and pieces out before dropping them into its mouth.

Should slippery prey escape, Gutcracker can fire off a disgusting spray of slime and goo from the back of its throat to ensnare Arburian Pelarota's in a sticky trap to eat at its leisure.

Weaknesses: Arburian Gigantecangrijo's have a large blind spot behind their shell and directly underneath them and have to guess at where prey is should they attempt to take shelter there.

Gutcracker is vulnerable to much large species such as To'kustars, who are more than capable of cracking them open like their prey in an ironic matter.

Gutcracker is not that intelligent and can be easily tricked.

Gutcracker is at risk of drying out should it spend an excess amount of time out of water or a moist environment.

Trivia: The species name derives from the word the word 'gigantesco', the Spanish word for "gigantic" and 'cangrejo', which comes from the Spanish word for 'crab'.

During the mating season, male Arburian Gigantecangrijo became considerably more passive as they claim a section of beach and begin building a nest of sorts constructed by a protective ring of rocks that they decorate with sea shells, seaweed, flora, debris, and the skeletal and sometimes rotting remains of previous meals. Should the female like his display, she'll mate with him and lay her eggs in his nest, of which he'll guard fiercely from smaller predators while keeping them hydrated every hour or so by swallowing mouthfuls of water and spitting it back up over them. Once the hatchlings emerge, the rock fence comes into play as it acts as a barrier of sorts to keep the hyperactive spawn in one place once the female returns from her nearly eight month journey at sea to feed them, allowing the male to then leave and eat.

Gutcracker 's behavior is based on that of various species of Bowerbirds and parental Emperor penguins.

Gutcracker 's slime is made out of a disgusting mixture of half-digested meals, stomach secretions, and feces, much like how a lobster is able to shoot a jet of feces out from a hole in its

The blue's a little harsh on sight, but than that it's awesome. I think Ripjaws is next? Seeing as how we already have a tentacled predator and how Ripjaw's mostly aquatic, I think a bizarre mashup of deep sea creatures would fit the bill.

As for predators for the rest of Ben's aliens, with the exception of Wildmutt and Upchuck . . .

Diamondhead - Since Petrosapien's are vulnerable to sound from high-pitched frequencies, an animal with a massive mouth and flat, crushing teeth to grind up the shards, plus an impenetrable hide, would be perfect.

Frankenstrike - A lot of people have done this and I think it's a cool idea, too. We keep the Vladats as predators of Transylians, but they're a primitive, hulking, shadow-traveling creature that lacks any sort of intelligence and only knows how to kill and feed.

XLR8 - Like my predator, Slitherhole (you could even use her if you want), this bad boy would have the ability to tear a hole through the fabric of space/time to teleport about to capture Kinecelerans; once it's managed to catch up with it's prey, it'll release a powerful electric shock to stun/kill it before eating.

Would we need to come up with predators for the future aliens that appeared in Ben 10, 000 (Arctiguana, Spitter, Buzzshock)? And do all the original aliens include Feedback (seeing as how he was one of younger Ben's aliens before he was lost and Ben took off the Omnitrix for some dumb reason)?

...Question; why would there be a race of reatures that eat crystals? and wo, wouldn' they be extinct thanks to Vilgax blowing up hte planet originally? Sugiote only brought back the Petrosapien people wiht the glowy crystal thing ;;

Technically speaking, Arburia is also gone (possibly forever) thanks to the Great One, but Gutcracker's species can be found on wildlife reserves on various planets.

As for a Petrosapien predator, they could be tied into the backup system Petropia has as well, or have a few specimens in off world reserves as well. As for why a species would evolve to eat crystals, think about what the Petrosapien's eat and how they might have evolved. If everything about them, even their teeth, is diamondhard, then it could be from a mineral-rich diet; the predatory species could find that eating Petrosapiens is easier than scrapping away at the rock of the planet to get the minerals that they need.

I'll say this: I doubt Wildmutt would have a predator. He kinda gives off an Apex Predator feel :P

And...Spidermonkey already HAS a natrual predator: The rootshark :P

A) we felt that, yes, Wildmutt would be a predator himself, but that doesn't mean vulpimancers don't have a competing predator that wouldn't be opportunistic enough  to eat a vulpimancer if the opportunity presented itself :thewalrusclown.deviantart.com/…

B) hear are some we don't have Predators 4 yet, Diamonhead, Frankenstrike, and XLR8

Hmm...

I am doubting that there are aliens that eat Crystals, the vampire aliens fed on Tranysalians (Frankenstrike) and a friend of mine suggested something that could, say, capture a XLR8 by making them unable to run :P

And as I mentioned earlier, I doubt that Vulpamancers wouldn't be having a predator. I mean that there aren't a lot of predatory animals that fit hat description of 'eating other predatory animals' that are mammals. I don't think wolves have a predator and Vulpamancers seem to be based on foxes and wolves along with lions :P

I was thinking for Diamondhead we might use a sonic-sound producing bat-bird-dragon thing that eats the Crystal shards similar to the way a Bearded Vulture dose.

video of Bearded Vulture eating bone: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxj9YO…

and as for wildmutt and blitzwolfer, I was thinking about apex predators that are higher on the scale than them, like how a Barracuda, while still a hunter, still has to worry about being eaten by a shark, or a Siberian wolf still has to worry about being eaten by an Amur Tiger

I just don't see a WEREWOLF, a mega-strong dog-like being and a now-resurrected species of crystal men to have predators. Heck, outside the Valdats, I don't really see a predator for ANY of the Anur aliens
